Activity Description

The Victoria Falls Bungee Jump is undoubtedly the most scenic bungee jump in the World. With the Victoria Falls themselves as the backdrop, and the mighty Zambezi River flowing beneath you, this is sure to be the greatest bungee jump in the World.

Your Victoria Falls Bungee Jump will undoubtedly be more than a passing thought the night before you take the leap. But, even though your mind will be buzzing with adrenaline, don’t forget to take your passport on the day! You’ll need it to get onto the Victoria Falls Bungee bridge which marks the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia.

The Victoria Falls Bungee Jump Bridge in itself is impressive and offers the most spectacular views as you get ready for your Victoria Falls Bungee Jump. The roaring of the mighty Zambezi River beneath you will definitely draw your attention as it floods into the Batoka Gorge below.

Once on the bridge, an ankle and body harnesses will be attached. Then the jumpmaster will give you calm and encouraging instructions followed by a countdown: “5 – 4 – 3 – 2- 1 – B-U-N-G-E-E!!!!!!” You will then experience 4 seconds of mind blowing freefall. Before you know it, a recovery operator will have you hooked up and winched back to the catwalk below the bridge.

White Water Rafting

White Water Rafting

White Water Rafting

In Victoria Falls

Don’t miss

Activity Description

You cannot speak, think, or talk about the Zambezi as though it is a simple stretch of water that gently meanders along a set course. It is a river, a waterfall, and the most magnificent white water rafting corridor on earth! Victoria Falls is a mile long curtain of water that stretches across the glistening basalt rock, erupts into spray, and then thunders into the canyons below. This is the domain of the Nyaminyami, the River God of the Tonga people and is the ‘highway’ for our rafts.

Our guests are be collected from their respective hotels and taken to the spectacular The Lookout Café for information & safety briefing. This is where guests meet up with their Wild Horizons Rafting Guides – the very finest crew on the Zambezi River!

Arrangements

Duration: 6 hours 30 minutes
When: Low Water Rafting
Approximate Dates: 10th August – 25th December
High Water- Rafting Approximate Dates: 25th Dec – 10th August
Where: Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
Weather: Weather permitting
What to Wear: Swimsuit and shorts/cycling shorts but nothing that water will suck away T-shirt or long-sleeved shirt for sun protection Sturdy shoes/trainers or rafting shoes. Your shoes must be securely fitted to your feet (i.e. no flip-flops) or they will be lost! Wet Suits will be provided in the winter months.
Things to Bring: National Park Fee (River Usage Fee) in cash A way to secure glasses to yourself or they will be lost Sunscreen and lip balm (guides will have dry bag for this) A peak cap that will fit comfortably under your helmet. Bring as little as possible!

Notes

Clients are given the option between an “oar boat” and a “paddle boat”. An “oar boat” is controlled and manoeuvred by the guide using “12 foot-long” oars from the middle of the raft. Guests are seated in the front and rear of the raft and hold on to the safety line around the perimeter. A “paddle boat” requires the passengers to actively assist the guide in manoeuvring the raft through the rapids and the calm stretches, they are seated around the perimeter of the boat and all paddle, but do not hold onto the safety line.

Walk in and out of the Gorge

The walk in and out of the gorge is steep and rocky. The walk out is approximately 750 feet to the top of the gorge and requires a reasonable degree of fitness. There is cold beer, soft drink and water top of the gorge for guests.

A heart racing, eye widening, mind blowing Zambezi white water rafting trip, transfers from/to Victoria Falls Town, gear, & lunch.

Richard Bangs once wrote that wild rivers are the earth’s renegades, defying gravity and dancing to their own tunes. Your first glimpse at the raging rapids that roll and churn down the Zambezi awaken the adventurer inside you, taunting you and seducing you. They beckon with their tremulous arms, teasing with their spurts of white water and daring you with their coiling waves.

The Zambezi is a moving, breathing part of the earth. It is the vein through which life flows and thrusts. Every stroke of your paddle takes you further than a vehicle on the road ever could. They say the first river you raft runs through the rest of your life. It bubbles up in you, the memories swirling like eddies in the pit of your stomach each time you remember it. The Zambezi morphs in shape and stature when the water levels drop or rise, yet each experience is exhilarating in its own way because life is simple- For fun, just add water.

When water levels drop, thrill levels soar. Between August and December, the river seems to be racing itself, plunging furiously between the lips of the gorge, cascading dramatically around very boulder and corner. It toys with the rafts with such precision, that every flip seems pre-meditated. During this time, expeditions begin at rapid number 1, the “Boiling Pot”. You take off from the white water rafting factory- the base of the Victoria Falls. The roar of the river diving down 100 meters of black basalt rock creates an ambience of adventure, purring at your inner adrenaline junkie. If you are after a heart racing, eye widening, and mind blowing rafting trip, then low water is what you need, and you have between August and December to get it.

During the high water seasons (January, February, March, May, June, July), gallons of water crash down the Victoria Falls, streaming into the thirsty gorge, and flooding the rocks and outcrops that form the rapids. When you dip your fingertips in to rippling water, you touch the last of what has gone before, and the first of what is still to come. At these times of the year, the river is more subdued, relaxing after a thunderous low water race. However, the sheer volume of water makes the first ten rapids unrunnable, and thus rafters will only tackle rapid 11 (The Over lander Eater) through to number 23 (The Morning Shave). As the water levels continue to creep higher and higher around March, rafters respectfully leave the Zambezi to her own devices, until they drop again around June.

The Zambezi was designed by the dare devil in Mother Nature, and there is no theme park in the world that could ever compete. Contrary to popular belief, the river is not one long, frothing rapid. The “Devils Toilet Bowl”, “The Stairway to Heaven” and “Mothers Revenge” (just to name a few) spring before you in short, dramatic bursts.

The stretch of water between them is gentle and smooth- the calm before the storm. They are just long enough to allow you to drink in the incredible scenery and let the sun soak up the water on your skin. The soft slosh of water against the rafts is accompanied by exhilarated shouts and laughs that bounce off the walls of the gorge, as euphoric rafters share their stories and psych up for the next roller coaster. Cruising down this channel of water feels like cruising through a postcard. The most experienced photo editor in the world couldn’t enhance the beauty of the looming gorge stretching to meet the brilliant blue sky. Paddling through an exquisite crevice in the earth, flanked by indigenous flora and passing by inquisitive fauna, is humbling and breath taking in the same moment.
The Zambezi Low Water Rafting Season is finally here! LOW WATER rafting commenced 3 August 2017. Take on the Zambezi with Wild Horizons and the finest crew on the river – Africa’s Greatest Adventures!

Activity Description

The spectacular helicopter flight over the Victoria Falls is known as the ‘Flight of Angels’.

David Livingstone famously wrote on seeing the Victoria Falls for the first time in 1855 that “Scenes so lovely must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight”. Little did he know that 150 years later he could have exactly that opportunity. The best way to appreciate the true splendour of the Victoria Falls is to view them from the air. Our helicopters have specially designed ‘bubble shaped’ windows perfect for panoramic viewing and great photographic opportunities from all seats.

Due to the close proximity of Maramba Aerodrome to the Zambezi River, the helicopters are over the spectacular scenery of the Zambezi River within 30 seconds after take-off.

After take off the helicopter turns out towards the magnificent Victoria Falls, our pilot will fly left and right hand circuits over the Victoria Falls in both directions giving you the best viewing, photographic and filming opportunities.
