Taking part in an adventure tour in Africa involves covering hundreds or thousands of kilometers and our tours are as much about this journey as they are about the destinations we visit. Use your time during these drives to talk to your fellow travelers, have a drink and take note of the world passing by your window. During this tour all you need to do is to take your watch off, sit back and enjoy the exquisite landscape of Africa.

Day 1 – Harare

Upon arrival at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport you will be met by an Exec Africa Travel and tours guide and you will be transferred to your chosen lodge. Our tour starting point will be situated in Harare and the starting time will be 15:00hrs. We will then proceed through Zimbabwe’s capital city which is Harare. This tour exposes an impeccably clean city, bustling with busy shops, wide open streets and warm hospitable people.

Day 2 – Harare to Nyanga (The Eastern Highlands)

After an early morning breakfast we depart the magnificent city of Harare and head through the diverse scenery of farm lands, rocky outcrops and into the magnificent mountainous area of the Eastern Highlands which is also known as “The Little England of Zimbabwe”. On arrival at the hotel you will be able to see the beautiful calm views and serene settings. The afternoon will be spent at leisure.

Day 3- Nyangani Mountains

In the morning we then proceed to Mount Nyangani. Mount Nyangani (formerly Mount Inyangani) is the highest mountain in Zimbabwe at 2 592m (8 504 feet). The mountain is located within Nyanga National Park in Nyanga district which is about 110km North west of Mutare. The summit lies atop a small outcrop of rocks around 40m above the surrounding area. The remainder of the peak is a broad moor of mainly rolling hills and plateau with an area of about 8 square kilometers. The edges of this plateau then fall steeply to the east and west sides. The mountain vegetation is largely composed of heath around the summit plateau with evergreen forest along the wetter eastern slopes and grassland to the western side.

Day 4 – Nyanga Mountains to Mutare

After an early breakfast we will leave the magnificent town of Nyanga and head through diverse scenery of farm lands and into the magnificent mountainous area of Mutare. Whilst on our journey we will pass through the Mutarazi Falls. The late afternoon is spent at leisure for you to explore and relax.

Day 5 – Mutare to Great Zimbabwe Ruins (Masvingo)

Departing from Mutare, we make our way towards the south western part of the country to the tiny town of Masvingo. Close-by to the town of Masvingo is one of the most crucial archaeological sites in the whole of Southern Africa. The Great Zimbabwe monument which ages back to 1200AD as once the home of around 10 000 indigenous people, A UNESCO World Heritage Site. This area is of exceptional importance to the country which took its name. Legend has it that this was indeed the very first city in which the famous Queen of Sheba lived and fantastic archaeological discoveries have since unearthed gold coins and porcelain from places as far as Persia and China thus highlighting the significance that the city was once a trading post.

Day 6 – Masvingo (Great Zimbabwe Ruins) to Bulawayo

After breakfast we depart for Bulawayo which is the second largest city in Zimbabwe with wide tree lined streets and is surrounded by beautiful parks. Within the city there are many examples of early Victorian buildings which are maintained by the Bulawayo City Council as heritage sites. We learn more about this beautiful city by visiting the Bulawayo National Museum before or after checking into our lodge.

Day 7 – Matopos Full Day Tour

A full day will be spent exploring the Matopos National Park with a local guide. The Matobo Hills are sculpted by the strong winds in the area and are the site of various intriguing Bushman paintings. This park contains an exceptional cultural and spiritual significance to the indigenous people populating this region. The reserve contains the highest population of leopard and black eagle in the world, so we make sure to keep our eyes peeled for these magnificent animals. The park received recognition as a UNESCO natural World Heritage Site in 2003 and includes an intensive protection zone that is home to both Black and White Rhinoceros. Named after the Ndebele word “Matobo “, whose meaning “bald heads” refers to the rounded granite hills that surround it. We return to Bulawayo which is our overnight stop for the night.

Day 8 – Bulawayo to Hwange National Park

This morning after having our hearty breakfast we then make the journey to Hwange National Park. Home to the big-5, Hwange National Park also offers a wide variety of plains, game and bird life. We swap to open safari vehicles today and make our way into the famed Hwange National Park which is situated in the far west of the country. Hwange lies in the incredible belt of Africa, spreading out into the neighbouring Botswana hence permitting animals (elephants in particular) to wonder freely between Hwange and Chobe National Parks. Aside from elephants, this park is home to more than 100 mammal species including Africa’s Big 5 (made up of leopard, lion, elephant, rhino and buffalo), as well as plenty of giraffe, cheetah and the brown hyena. The reserve is also famous for its high concentration of Wild(painted) dogs. Sadly, the numbers of these creatures are decreasing but recently conservation efforts have been made a much higher priority.

Day 9 – Hwange National Park

Early in the morning you will have an early morning game drive in the Hwange National Park. Tea and coffee is served before the game drive or during the game drive. After the game drive, you will have your full breakfast at around 09:30hrs to 10:00hrs and that’s the best time to see the big cats like lions, leopards and cheetahs. Late in the afternoon you will embark on an afternoon game drive.

Day 10 – Hwange National Park to Victoria Falls

A leisurely departure sees us leaving Hwange and proceeding to the town of Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe). On arrival we check in at our accommodation and the afternoon is spent at Leisure. You will finish your day with a spectacular sunset cruise on the Zambezi River.

Day 11 – Victoria Falls

After breakfast we enjoy a walking tour of the Victoria Falls. You will stop at various vantage points to view the Falls and walk through the rainforest whilst witnessing the rainbows and feeling the spray and thundering noise of water falling into the gorge. The rest of your afternoon will be spent at leisure where you can book one of many activities with your guide.
